Episode 19: New Answers for Allergies
Transcript
Welcome to the Serve Love Lift Podcast! I’m Tiffany Garvin.
Years ago on a quiet beach in Hawaii, I felt the weight of the pain and struggles we all face in this world and how much we need each other. Soon after, this movement was born to Serve Love and Lift.
I believe that we are meant to serve the world with our unique gifts, love ourselves and others, and lift each other up to live with joy!
This podcast is here to help you heal your heart and your life and empower you on your path to becoming the best version of yourself
I invite you to listen carefully and jot down notes that come to mind whether they come from me or your own heart Then, share this episode with 3 people who you feel could use it today
I’m so glad you’re here! Let’s get going.
Have you ever felt restricted with what foods you could eat, what pets you could have or if you could enjoy the outdoors? So often, I hear about allergies to milk, gluten, peanuts, pollen, cats or even nature as a whole. It’s not uncommon for people to feel powerless or afraid of their allergies. It seems like an ever-present epidemic.
Some allergies are not just inconvenient, but can be life-threatening. Who hasn’t been informed of a child in class who has peanut allergies so badly that they can’t even be in the same room with them? They have an epipen ready to stab themselves at the slightest hint.
Or what about a bee sting that sends a poor victim into anaphylactic shock. This is no way to live!
I know the feeling, not to this intensity, but my life was significantly limited. When I was a teenager, I was having so many reactions that my mom took me to get my allergies tested. By the end of the appointment, I had pink welts covering at least half of my back. Dairy, animals, shellfish, trees, grass, and on and on; you name it, I was probably allergic to it.
Fast forward a few decades and not only was I able to heal from my chronic illnesses with the help of doTERRA essential oils and my healing work, but I was also able to heal all my allergies. Needless to say, my life is much more open now.
What I learned as I healed was surprising. We know about histamines and how they cause the immune system to jump into action at the sign of a potential allergen, but what tells one person’s immune system to react to something and another person’s to simply let it pass? That’s the key.
It comes down to programming. Just as any computer obediently follows if…then statements to produce a particular outcome, so does our subconscious respond to perceived threats. If our subconscious is programmed to interpret eggs as dangerous, it will trigger our immune system to respond to that threat. If eggs are perceived as safe, no trigger occurs.
So, how can we change this? Well, how do we get programmed in the first place? These programs can be inherited from Mom, Dad or Grandpa Larry or any ancestor who experienced the reaction. Programs can also be imprinted from difficult experiences or traumas or everyday traumas in your life.
If you’ve ever had a stressful situation and food was even in the environment, your subconscious surveys everything around you during those moments and catalogs the potential cause of the distress. Which means, it can mistakenly imprint the threat onto some scrambled eggs on your plate or the color red from a person’s shirt or the smell of lavender wafting in through an open window. Bingo! You have an allergy.
So, the solution to resolving allergies? Heal the inherited or imprinted programs in your subconscious.
*Let’s take a quick break. doTERRA essential oils offer fantastic support for a variety of reactions. One of my favorite essential oil combinations for seasonal and environmental reactions are lemon, lavender, and peppermint. You can place a drop of each oil in your hands and breathe in or put them in a capsule and take them internally. I love how quickly they can ease reactions. Have you written down your list of allergies yet? It may also be helpful to know that there are actually 5 different levels of reactions.
The smallest or least reaction is an aversion. This is where you would just prefer not to have pepper in your eggs or you’d rather not be outside when it’s windy.
The next level of reaction is a sensitivity. Here, it’s a bit more uncomfortable. For example, if you eat a banana and your tongue feels funny or you get a runny nose when you go outside in the spring.
Next, the intensity of reactions increases to an allergy. This is the most common. You might sneeze around cats or get a headache around household cleaners.
Intolerance is a high intensity reaction. Here, a headache turns into a migraine or a sneeze turns into several sneezes, watery eyes, and itching everything.
The highest intensity reaction is a hypersensitivity. This is someone throwing up from smelling a litter box across the room or getting hives at the thought of speaking in front of a group.
While the higher intensity reactions may take more time to resolve, all of these levels of reactions can be healed. Aversions, sensitivities, allergies, intolerances, and hypersensitivities all come from subconscious programs that cause the body to physically or emotionally react.
So, let’s see what we can work through today. Have you made your list yet? It can be issues with anything from food to nature to animals to colors or even people or places. Yes, we can have reactions to just about anything.
Ok, choose one you’d like to start with. Maybe start with something you feel comfortable testing on your own - like that tickle in your nose that happens when you visit a friends’ home or the mild stomach ache you get after drinking chocolate milk. Don’t start with a life-threatening allergy unless you plan to work on it for a while and go get tested again before exposing yourself to it.
Since we’re starting with a milder reaction like an aversion or sensitivity, that kind of gives us our intensity rating. After we work through the subconscious programs contributing to this reaction, you can test it out when you’re ready and compare its intensity. You’ll know if you need to heal more at that point.
With these kinds of issues, I’ll often have my clients use the RESTORE technique to resolve the subconscious wounds, the RELEASE technique to let go of the emotions and beliefs around the reactions, and, here’s a new one for you. I’ll have them use the HEAL technique to help their body repair damage caused by their reactions. This one is most common with food issues.
Ready? Let’s go through your first aversion or sensitivity together.
Use your intention, and think the word RESTORE, and take a deep breath. You’re taking this subconscious program back to its perfect, original design. Think RESTORE again and breathe. You’re letting it know that there’s no threat here. It’s all good. RESTORE one more time and breathe. You’re safe and strong.
Now, RELEASE and take a deep breath. Any emotions attached to this reaction can go. RELEASE again and breathe. If there are beliefs contributing to the reaction they’re now resolved. RELEASE one more time and breathe. The reaction no longer has cause to be triggered.
Last, think the word HEAL and breathe. You can support your body’s natural healing process. Think HEAL again and breathe. Your body can now begin repairing any physical wounds caused by the reaction. HEAL one more time and take a nice deep breath. Picture a perfectly healthy body.
Repeat these techniques often until the reactions are completely gone and your body no longer perceives these things as threats. Well done!
I’m so excited for you. I remember that space of time when I healed all my food allergies, animal issues and environmental reactions. It was amazing to feel free from the constant irritations and discomforts that came along with the myriad of troublesome reactions. It was remarkable relief. I hope the same for you and believe that you will find it for yourself as you work through each of your subconscious programs that are causing your grief. You’ve got this!
